CIP redesign cut water consumption by a third.

Challenge

A mid-sized dairy plant was running CIP cycles inherited from a 2008 retrofit. Water and chemical use had crept up; cycles overran shift handovers; QA was flagging recurring swab failures on a yogurt line.

Approach

Audited 14 CIP circuits, rebuilt the design from flow-velocity first principles, redesigned spray geometry on three vessels, and rewrote validation protocols against current EHEDG guidance.

Pilot-to-production scale-up for a fermented oat base.

Challenge

Series-B startup hit yield and texture variability when moving from a 200L pilot to a 12,000L production fermenter. Three commissioning runs failed on viscosity spec; launch window was closing.

Approach

Reframed the scale-up around mixing geometry and shear, not volume. Built a parameter-transfer matrix, ran a structured 4-trial DOE on the production tank, and embedded with the QA team for first commercial batch.

Challenge

Stood up a project management office, wrote scope and budget framework from scratch, ran vendor selection across utilities and process equipment, and led FAT/SAT for critical lines through to handover.
